Stella Shinsky

Stella L. Shinsky, 93, of Youngstown, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1916, in Pleasant Unity, she was a daughter of the late John and Stefania Kontor. She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Youngstown, and the Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a surgical instrument technician by Latrobe Area Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael B. Shinsky, in 1988; as well as eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by a son, Brother Felix Capuchin, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Stella L. Cholock and her husband, David, of Greensburg, and Nancy Moore, of Youngstown, Pa.; a beloved granddaughter, Nita Moore; a brother, Carl Kontor and his wife, Virginia, of Latrobe; and two sisters, Rose Krempasky, of Youngstown, and Julia Borza and her husband, Martin, of Latrobe. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as celebrant. There will be visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe.
