Shirley Ann Gallagher

Shirley Ann (Springer) Gallagher, 86, of Greensburg (formerly Latrobe) passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Independence Health System - Westmoreland Hospital. She was born June 10, 1939, in Hendersonville, PA to the late Edward Frank and Laura Bell (Trump) Springer. A class of 1957 graduate of Derry High School, she went on to earn her LPN from Kate Estella Koch Practical Nursing School, Pittsburgh, PA in 1958. She then worked at Latrobe Area Hospital and was a nanny for Fred Roger’s son in Latrobe. Shirley was a member of The Latrobe Presbyterian Church and sung in the choir. A caregiver to all, she enjoyed going out to eat with family, reading, and taking walks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Albert Gallagher; two sisters, Lois Konkly and Dolores Springer; and four brothers, William, James, Edward, and Richie Springer. Shirley is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Donegan (Jeffrey) and Patrice (Patty) Gallagher (Garth Campbell); two grandsons, Thomas and Julian Donegan; a brother, Robert (Bob) Springer; and her “Grand Doggies” Bridget and Jackson. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Derek Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA.
