Sarah L. Geter

Sarah L. Geter, 90, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Westmoreland Manor. She was born March 13, 1919, in Haddock, Ga., a daughter of the late Levi Kinslow and Lois Odom Kinslow Sanders. Sarah was a retired custodial worker for Kenametal and a member of Second Baptist Church of Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill Sanders; her husband, Robert L. Geter, in 1974; a stepsister, Louise Sanders; a half brother, Cecil Patterson; a stepbrother, Bill Sanders Jr.; and a nephew, Anthony Sanders. She is survived by a son, Andy L. Geter and his wife, Bette Jane, of Greensburg; a daughter, Tanya S. Byrd and her husband, Curtis N., of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Cheyenne Byrd and Andrea Augustine and her husband, James; a sister, Daisy Sanders, of Minnesota; and two first cousins, Bertha Greely, of Macon, Ga., and Madgie Walker, of Detroit, Mich. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Hezekiah Foster officiating. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church.
