Rudolph Henry Holnaider Jr., 80, lovingly known as “Rudy”, “Big R” or “Papa,” passed away on October 16, 2026.
Born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Rudolph built a life centered around hard work, family, faith, and the love he shared with those around him.
Rudolph was a kind, loving, intelligent, and hardworking man. He was friendly, supportive, and someone his family and friends could always count on. His reliability and willingness to be there for the people he loved, were among the many qualities that made him so special. To those who knew him, he was more than a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was someone whose presence brought comfort, whose love made a lasting difference, and whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Rudolph was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Latrobe, where his faith was an important part of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, during which time he was stationed in Korea. Following his military service, he continued to demonstrate the strong work ethic that defined his life. He worked at Elliot and Standard Steel before concluding his career at Latrobe Keystone Aluminum Products for over 40+ years.
Outside of work, Rudy found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors, especially in the woods. Whether he was enjoying the peace of nature or just cutting grass, he was happiest outside and always keeping busy.
Rudolph was the son of the late Rudolph Henry Holnaider Sr. and Hilda E. Pesavento. On April 1, 1963, he married the love of his life, Mary E. Beckner, beginning a marriage and a family.
He was a proud father to his late sons, Marc D. Holnaider, whose wife is Cassandra L. Holnaider, and Richard E. Rogers, whose wife is Grace E. Rogers. His love for his family continued through his grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Amber, and Jordan Holnaider, and Justin and Jacob Rogers. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Cameron, Jayden, Nathaniel, Jazlyn, Remington, Truett, and Hazel, each of whom carries forward a part of his family’s legacy.
Rudolph is also survived by his brothers Thomas Holnaider and Christopher Holnaider; his sisters Juliann Durden and Mariann Holnaider; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Marc and Richard, and his brother Bruno Holnaider Sr.
