Robert L. Uncapher

Robert L. Uncapher, 74, of Derry, formerly of Hostetter, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Mountianview Specialty Care, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 1, 1938, in Waterman, Pa., Indiana County, a son of the late Robert L. Uncapher and Verna Stiles Uncapher. Robert was a retired machinist for Whitney Manufacturing and Latrobe Foundry. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Derry, and a former member of St. Cecilia Parish, Whitney. He was also a member of the AFLOAT Fly Fishing Club, Derry Rod & Gun Club, Kingston Vets and Sportsmen's Club, F.J. Bow & Gun Club and a social member of American Legion Post 982. A 1956 graduate of Hurst High School in Mt. Pleasant, he loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, "Buddy." He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra L. Uncapher in 2003; a brother, Lawrence Uncapher; and two sisters, Elsie Shultz and Mary Jane Dick. He is survived by five children, Robert E. Uncapher, of Derry, Felicia A. Campbell, of Latrobe, Lyle J. Campbell and his wife, Dawna, of Derry, Kimberly Ann Derito and her husband, Charles, of Derry, and Lisa J. Pace and her husband, Samuel, of Plum Borough; seven grandchildren, Leah, Brandon, Olivia, Austin, Coletta, Charleen and Mathew; a sister, Virginia Hankey and her husband, Robert, of Irwin; a brother, Eugene Uncapher and his wife, Valarie "Tootie," of Derry; as well as an ever faithful dog, Buddy. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Derry, with Father Stephen C. West officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. The family would like to thank the staff at Mountainview Specialty Care Center and Excela Hospice for all their acts of kindness and compassion shown to all of us during Dad's stay.
