Regina A. (Schrum) Macey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. Born on June 28, 1934 the daughter of Wilbur T. and Kathleen (Dunlap) Schrum. She was 91 years old.
Regina touched many lives with her warmth, generosity, and infectious sense of humor.
Regina was the devoted daughter of her late parents, whom she honored throughout her life with her strong faith and family values. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, siblings, and other dear family members who welcomed her home with open arms. Regina’s memory is lovingly carried on by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
A passionate fan for all types of sports, Regina’s heart beat true for the Pittsburgh teams. She was a faithful follower of the Black & Gold, rarely missing a game. Her quick wit and bright smile brought comfort and laughter to every gathering, reminding all who knew her of the importance of finding joy in everyday moments.
Regina dedicated 26 years of her professional life as the Guidance Secretary at the Greater Latrobe Senior High School. Her commitment to supporting students and faculty alike left a lasting mark on the school community. After her well-earned retirement, Regina continued to serve others through her active involvement in various clubs and organizations, as well as countless hours of volunteer work.
Regina was a past president and Recording Secretary of Latrobe BPW. She also served as the St. Vincent Senior Citizens Club Treasurer. Club affiliations include PA Association of School Retirees and Westmoreland County Association of Educational Office Professionals. She volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul store up until her death, and previously at the St. Vincent Parish Picnic, and St. Vincent Alter Rosary Society.
The family wishes to extend special gratitude to her Visiting Angel, Laurie, whose compassion and care brought considerable comfort and friendship to Regina in her later years. They also extend a genuine thank you to the staff of Independence Health System at Latrobe Hospital for the excellent care Regina received.
In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years M. Jack Macey, brother Wilbur T. Schrum, sisters Eileen Hanna and Kathleen Schrum Roman Bourgeois. Regina is survived by her children Jack Macey (Alice), Janine Bell (Denny), and Linda Hanna (Jerry).
Grandchildren include Scott (Michelle) and Chris Macey (Tiffany), Mandy Bell Conrad (Matt) and Abby Bell Gergits (Mike), Drew Hanna and fiancé Christine, and Nick Hanna and fiancé Isabelle. Great grandchildren include Celeste, Luke, Brooke, Alexis, and Reese Conrad and Cora, Tommy, and Liliana Gergits.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Action for Animals Humane Society in Latrobe in honor of Regina’s faithful dog, Boomer. Alternatively, contributions may also be made to the American Stroke Association.
Regina’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Fri., Jan. 9, 2026, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier Street, Latrobe, PA 15650. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Sat., Jan 10, 2026, at St. Vincent Basilica at 10 a.m. with Father Killian Loch, O.S.B. as celebrant.
