Pauline E. (Falso) Stemmler, of Latrobe, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born in Latrobe to the late Pasquale Falso and Elizabeth (Fanciulla) Zappone Falso. She retired with more than 35 years of experience as an operator for Bell Telephone. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish, St. Vincent Rosary Alter Society, St. Vincent Women's Auxiliary, St. Vincent Oblates, Telephone Pioneers of America, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 1944, Latrobe Area Hospital Volunteers, AARP of Westmoreland Chapter 1479 and served as a Minister of Care for St. Vincent Basilica. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Coag" Stemmler, in 1973; three brothers, Angelo Jeff Zappone and his wife, Beatrice, Charles Zappone and his wife, Peggy, and John Zappone and his wife, Marian; five sisters, Marie Iafarino and her husband, Tony, Anna Koch and her husband, William, Carmel Danko and her husband, Matthew, Florence Joyner and her husband, Robert, and Eleanor Falso; and a brother-in-law, Raymond "Gene" Bigley. She is survived by two sons, Terence "Terry" Stemmler, of New Alexandria, and Mark Stemmler and his wife, Sandra, of Derry; two grandchildren, Alex and Sarah; one sister, Marguerite Bigley, of Latrobe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Basilica. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. The family would like to thank Dr. Winslow and Dr. Sung and their staff, the nurses' station at Emeritus Personal Care Home, the staff at St. Anne Home, and finally, a special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Latrobe Hospital Dialysis clinic. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Latrobe Dialysis Unit, 121 W. Second Ave., Latrobe, PA 15650.
