Mary Ella Carns

Mary Ella (Makary) Carns, 84, of Latrobe, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Latrobe Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 15, 1929, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late John Wilbert McCary and Rosella May (Crow) Makary. She retired after 18 years of service as an inspector for Latronics Corp. She also worked for the former Pierce Woolen Mill in Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCary; and brothers-in-law, George Carns and Byron E. Carns. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edwin D. Carns; two children, Colleen A. Carns and Jeffrey B. Carns and his wife, Karen; two grandchildren, Heather M. Carns and Christi R. McNair; four great-grandchildren, Raeanne, Tara, Dillon and Declan McNair; a brother, John W. McCary II; and two sisters-in-law, Lois M. Anderson and her husband, Carl, and Sara Carns. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe PA 15650. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, in the funeral home, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
