Joel Orner Marshall

Joel Orner Marshall, 90, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Barnes Place. Born Sept. 2, 1924, in Unity Township, he was a son of the late John J. and Margaret (McKlveen) Marshall. He was a retired plumber pipefitter with Local 354, Latrobe. A World War II veteran, he served in the Navy. He was a member of Loyalhanna Lodge No. 275 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, 32nd degree, American Legion and a retired life member of the Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma G. (Cribbs) Marshall, in 2002; five brothers, Thomas, Donald, Eugene, Robert (who was killed in World War II) and Kenneth; and three sisters, Louise Markle, Grace Eckenrod and Cecil Bucci. He is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Marshall and his wife, Susan, of The Villages, Fla., and Robert E. Marshall, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Robert T. Marshall, Brandie Dittman and her husband Kevin, Jay Marshall and his wife Heather, Amy Leonardi and her husband Nick, Bobby Marshall and Katie Marshall; and nine great-grandchildren, Cooper, Lilly, Brady, Declan, Jack, Ryan, Makayla, Tristan and Ryleigh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Gascoine officiating. Private interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW members will provide military honors at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joel's name to the Latrobe Salvation Army, 1420 Ridge Ave., Latrobe, PA 15650. The family wishes to thank the devoted staff at Barnes Place for their kind and loving care of Joel. They would also like to thank Joel's special niece and loving caregiver, Susie Marshall.
