Jacob R. Miller, 93, of Latrobe, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at home. Born June 15, 1918, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late George M. and Louise (Schmucker) Miller. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish. Jake was a retired auto mechanic for Bob Mentzer Ford and a farmer, but most of all he was a loving husband and father who worked hard for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Jaram) Miller; and two daughters, Helen Jane Miller and Alice Miller. He is survived by nine children, Lillian Jones and her husband Donald, Evelyn Blystone and her husband Robert, Gert Langham and her husband Greg, Robert Miller, Marie Mikesell, Gladys Maloy and her husband Jeffrey, Samuel Miller, Rita Sullenberger and her husband Robert, and James Miller and his wife Lorraine; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral service will be held Tuesday in the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe.
