Helen M. (Kovac) Lucas

Helen M. (Kovac) Lucas, 90, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in Family Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Loyalhanna, to the late Stephen and Mary Anne (Hlad) Kovac. She was retired after having worked as a beautician for more than 40 years. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. Helen supported the war effort during World War II by working in various manufacturing jobs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ermin E. Lucas, in 2007; and a brother, Jim Kovac. She is survived by her son, Ron Lucas, and his wife, Sandra, of Churchill; and a sister, Betty Skawara, as well as several nieces and nephews. As per Helen's request, there will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe, with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, officiating.
