Grant Thomas Schultheis, 95, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Latrobe, to the late Louis M. and Susan Sheridan Schultheis. He retired after 30 years of service, in September 1982, having worked as a hammer driver for Latrobe Steel Company. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, Thomas B Anderson American Legion Post 515. He was a veteran of the Army having served in the Infantry 42 Airborne Rainbow Division. He served in Germany, France, Austria and Luxembourg. He assisted in the liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp on April 29, 1945. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. (Mills) Schultheis, in 2001; a daughter, Carolyn Nuttall; five brothers, Wilbur, James, Richard, Robert and Edward Schultheis; a sister, Susan Young; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou (Jenkins) Schultheis. He is survived by three sons, Thomas P. Schultheis and wife, Donna, of Latrobe, Jerry H. Schultheis, of Stahlstown, and Tim Schultheis and his wife, Annette, of Latrobe. He has 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; he is also survived by three sisters, Margret Hickey, of McKeesport, Catherine Hoffer, of West Palm Beach Fla., and Loretta Deaton and husband, Ion, of Silver Spring, Md. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Anthony J. Carbone officiating. Burial will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. Military services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by the Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard.
