Grace Margaret (Reichwine) Shoemaker

Grace Margaret (Reichwine) Shoemaker, 100, of Latrobe (Unity Township) died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born Nov. 26, 1914, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. Reichwine and Margaret Wessel Reichwine. Grace was retired after having worked for Gratt Jewelers. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Josiah Shoemaker; a son, Harold "Buz" Albert Shoemaker; three brothers, Richard, Charles and James Reichwine, and two sisters, Gertrude and Gladys Erb. Grace is survived by five children, Carole "Sally" Ruffer, Fay Herrod, Roy Edward Shoemaker, Charles James Shoemaker and Kenneth Earl Shoemaker; three daughter-in-laws, Joann Burik Shoemaker, Mary Lou Brehun Shoemaker and Mary Ann Geisey Shoemaker, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Frederick Funeral Home Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Trinity pastors officiating.
