Charles A. Bridge

Charles A. Bridge, 93, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Born May 28, 1916, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Rhabanus and Mary (Fresch) Bridge. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, and the Holy Name Society. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a steelworker by Teledyne Vasco Co. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army, and a member of American Legion Post 515. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara (Guter) Bridge; two brothers, Louis Bridge and Father Raphael Bridge; and four sisters, Sister Benita Bridge, Sister Teresita Bridge, Helen Munchinski and Rita Casey. He is survived by two sons, Maurice Bridge and his wife, Louise, of South Windsor, Conn., and Dennis Bridge, of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Anita Pohland and her husband, Michael, of Latrobe; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Bridge, of Frederick, Md.; six grandchildren, Laura, David, Deanna and Jared Bridge, Michael Pohland and his wife Maura, and Suzanne Pohland; and a sister Imelda Ransel and her husband Edward of Latrobe. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. The combined funeral detail of local American Legion and VFW veterans will provide military honors at 9:45 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
