Carole M. Cairns, 80, of Latrobe passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 comfortably at home after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 20, 1931 in Johnstown, PA a daughter of the late Rockwell and Mable (Martin) Marietta. Carole was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church. She was as devoted mother and wife and volunteered for years at the Latrobe Area Hospital. Carole enjoyed entertaining, playing bridge with her friends and was an avid reader. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, William S. Cairns; her four children: Sandra Buzek and her husband, Jim, of Greensburg, Holly Smith and her husband, Bob, of Long Branch, New Jersey; Cathy Andres and her husband, Kevin, of Moon Township; W. Scott Cairns and his wife, Colette of Lititz; five grandchildren: Lindsay (Buzek) Bompiani (and her husband Luka), Jace Buzek, Adam and Erin Smith, and Brianna Andres; two great grandchildren: Maddyn and Antonella Bompiani; and two brothers: Martin Marietta of Gibsonia and Melvin Marietta of Mandeville, Louisiana. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Unity Chapel, 114 Chapel Lane Latrobe, PA 15650 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Clark R. Kerr officiating.
