Alfred D'Alessandro

February 12, 1930 — August 15, 2017

Alfred D'Alessandro, DDS of Latrobe, formerly of Delmont, died on August 15, 2017.  Alfred (Fred) was born on Feb. 12, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Costantino and Maria D’Alessandro.  Alfred was also preceded in death by sisters, Julia DiBello, Rosemarie Frisch and Mary Ann D’Alessandro and brothers Primo and James D’Alessandro, surviving are his sister Nancy Coran of Pittsburgh and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Ellen Slifer, wife Betty Ann Plyler and wife Sally B. Fields D'Alessandro his wife of 36 years.  He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh and received a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Doctor of DentalSurgery degree at the University of Pittsburgh.  He served as a Captain in the United States Army as a Dentist, serving one year in Korea.  He practiced dentistry in Forest Hills, Pittsburgh until his retirement.  Alfred was a member of the University of Pittsburgh AlumniAssociation, Westmoreland County Historical Society and was an avid reader enjoying biographies and historical fiction.  He is loved and will be missed by all of his family and friends.  Special thanks go out to all of his caregivers and friends at Senior Life of Greensburg and the Greensburg Care Center - their loving care and assistance was very much appreciated.  Friends and family will be received from10:00 AM – 12:00 noon on Friday, August 18, 2017 in Frederick Funeral Home, Inc., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650, where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with the Rev.
