Robert M. Trainer, 77, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Bethlen Home, Ligonier. He was born June 22, 1941, in Latrobe, son of the late Michael Anthony Trainer and Marie (Balun) Trainer. He was a retired machinist for Kennametal. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Daniel P. Nolan Council No. 940 and the St. Vincent Assembly No. 918 of the Fourth Degree. He served in the Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. "Maggie" (Shaffer) Trainer, in 2007, and an infant son, Robert. He is survived by three children, Kimberly A. Ferry and husband, Stanley, of Youngstown, Robert M. Trainer Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Latrobe, and Melissa Mohring and her husband, Kevin, of Latrobe; seven grandchildren, Mia Rosner, Parker Vogel, Mallory, Rebecca, Colleen and Danica Trainer, Jessica Falcone and Adam Mohring; two great-grandchildren, William Rosner and Michael Falcone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, in St. Vincent Basilica Parish. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe. Members of Daniel P. Nolan Council No. 940 will conduct a memorial service between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The Color Corps will provide an Honor Guard from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Military Honors will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home by the Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard.
