James W. Bolton, Sr.

September 19, 1934 ~ March 23, 2018 (age 83)

James W. Bolton, Sr., 83, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at home. He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Latrobe, son of the late James Bolton and June Adams Bolton. James was the retired business owner of the Automatic Garage Door Co. and a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. He had served as Western Pennsylvania State Representative of the Pennsylvania State Fireman's Association, was a member of the Westmoreland County Fireman's Association, was a past president of the Fireman's Relief Association, was a past president of the Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department and was a former assistant fire chief. He earned an associate degree in fire science from Westmoreland County Community College.  He was an instructor at the Pennsylvania State Fire Training Facility in Lewistown, Pa., and he designed and organized funds for the WCCC fire training grounds. He was a veteran of the Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kathleen Bolton. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty S. (Schroding) Bolton; four children, Karen L. Baker and her husband, Michael, James W. Bolton Jr. and his wife, Sherri, Craig F. Bolton and his wife, Kimberly J. and Curtis L. Bolton and his wife, Mandy; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a cousin, Regis Kessler and his wife, Gail; and his beloved dog, Jake. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in the funeral home, with the Very Rev. Daniel C. Mahoney, VF, officiating. Private entombment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. The Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
