Edwin Dale Carns, 92, of Latrobe, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at home. He was born May 10, 1926, in Latrobe, son of the late Byron Beltz Carns and the late Marie Alice (Barger) Carns. Edwin was retired from Teledyne Vasco, where he worked in the warehouse. He was an Army Air Corps veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 515. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ella (Makary) Carns, in 2013; two brothers, Byron E. Carns and George R. Carns; two nephews, Jamie and Cory Anderson; and a close companion, Fanny the dog. He is survived by two children, Colleen A. Carns and Jeffrey B. Carns and his wife Karen; two grandchildren, Heather M. Carns and Christi R. McNair and her husband Dan; four great-grandchildren, Raeanne, Tara, Dillon and Declan McNair; a sister, Lois M. Anderson and her husband Carl; and a niece, Beth Dell and her husband Rich. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. Military honors will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Kennedy officiating. Private burial will take place in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and aides from Excela Hospice for the care, help and support they gave Edwin over the last several days.
